Please join us at the 18th Annual Discovery Award Dinner on Thursday, November 21 at the Skirball Cultural Center as we honor Nicole Clemens, President of Paramount Television, and Art Coppola, Co-Founder of Macerich Company. Funds raised from this year’s dinner will help to advance public programming and access initiatives at the Cayton Children’s Museum – formerly the Zimmer Children’s Museum – and its community youth outreach program, youTHink.

NICOLE CLEMENS

President of Paramount Television

As the President of Paramount Television, Nicole Clemens oversees a robust slate of 26 shows on the air, in production, and ordered to series. Current shows include Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan (Amazon - starring John Krasinski), Catch-22 (Hulu - starring George Clooney), 13 Reasons Why (Netflix), Emmy-nominated The Alienist (TNT) and its sequel The Angel of DarknessThe Haunting of Hill House (Netflix), and Boomerang (BET). Upcoming projects include John Green’s Looking for Alaska (Hulu), Shantaram (Apple - starring Charlie Hunnam), and Defending Jacob (Apple - starring Chris Evans).

Previously, Clemens was a producer at Anonymous Content, where she set up both film and television projects including Sexy Beast and Shantaram. Prior to joining Anonymous Content, Clemens was Executive Vice President and Head of Series Development for FX Networks where she guided a coveted roster of critically-acclaimed original series including Atlanta, Man Seeking Woman, You’re the Worst, Baskets, Snowfall, Tyrant, and Mayans MC. Before that, Clemens was a partner and Head of the Motion Picture Literary Department at ICM Partners for 16 years. Prior to her tenure at ICM Partners, Clemens ran Rod Holcomb Productions and was a television executive at Spelling Television.

Nicole has served as a mentor through The Hollywood Reporter Big Brother Big Sister program, the USC Stark Program, and the UCLA Producers Program. She has been named one of The Hollywood Reporter’s Women in Entertainment Power 100 for several years in her positions at ICM, FX, and Paramount Television. She has been included in Variety’s Women’s Impact Report and was named one of ELLE’S Women in TV Power. An avid equestrian, Nicole also loves spending time with her husband, Executive Producer Vaun Wilmott, and their two sons, Beckett and Hoyt, whose travel sports schedules keep weekend read challenging...

Art Coppola

Co-Founder - Macerich

Over the past four decades, Art Coppola led a visionary team at Macerich in creating an irreplaceable real estate portfolio in the most desirable markets in the United States.  The Company has created iconic award-winning retail centers ranging from Santa Monica Place – ICSC’s VIVA 2013 global winner of the “Best of the Best” award for Design and Development, to Fashion Outlets of Chicago – 2015 winner of MAPIC’s “Best Outlet Centre in the World”, to Tyson’s Corner – globally recognized mixed use retail powerhouse in the DC marketplace.  Santa Monica Place is the new home of the Cayton Children’s Museum. 

 

Through Art’s leadership as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Macerich (NYSE:MAC) grew   from a privately held enterprise into a dominant publicly owned regional mall company that is part of the S&P 500.  He retired from Macerich on December 31, 2018.

 

Art served as the 2007 Chair of the Board of Governors and was the 2009 recipient of NAREIT’s prestigious Leader and Achievement Award, which recognized his significant and lasting contributions to the growth and betterment of the industry.  Under his guidance in making sustainability an integrated part of the company’s culture and approach, Macerich has been ranked #1 in the US Retail Sector by the influential Global Real Estate Sustainability Benchmark (GRESB) for the past 4 years.

 

A native of Des Moines, Iowa, Art joined Macerich in 1976 and is also an attorney and a certified public accountant.   Art is married to Kate Coppola, has 3 daughters and 4 grandchildren.

 

Art and his wife Kate are generous to many local organizations, including St. Monica’s Catholic Church in Santa Monica, Otis College of Art and Design, as well as three of Art’s alma maters in Iowa: Christ the King Elementary School, Dowling Catholic High School and Drake University, where he earned bachelor’s and law degrees. In 2008, Art established the Arthur M. Coppola Family Chair in Supportive Care Medicine at the City of Hope to recognize the importance of caring for a patient’s total needs and the needs of their family.  Art is also a past recipient of City of Hope’s Los Angeles Real Estate & Construction Industries Council Spirit of Life® Award.
