Should I buy a Cayton membership?

If you plan to visit the Cayton more than 3 times this year, then you definitely should! A membership at the Launchers level is more cost effective than paying admission to visit the museum four times as a family.

The Cayton is a non-profit organization, and your membership purchase helps us keep our doors open (it’s also tax deductible!). Interested in supporting our mission of building positive values in kids through innovative play? Purchasing a membership is a great way to start!

How do I give a membership as a gift?

A Cayton membership makes a great gift for adults and kids! To gift a membership, complete the membership form for the recipient and indicate at the end of the form that the membership is a gift. You will then be emailed a receipt for your purchase and your gift recipient will receive an email welcoming them to their membership.

How many people can be on a membership account?

You can have as many people as you’d like on your membership. The Launchers membership ($105) includes 1 adult and 1 child, the Reachers membership ($500) includes 2 adults and 2  kids, the Reflectors ($2000) and the Builders ($5000) memberships each include 4 adults and 4 kids. You can add additional adults or kids to any membership at all levels for $40 each.

Who can use my membership?

All adults and children who want to use the membership must be uniquely named on the account. This means that the membership is not interchangeable, and each person using the membership must be specifically named.

As a member, how do I get tickets to visit the museum?

We are not requiring members to reserve tickets ahead of their visit at this this time. You are welcome to come by the museum at any time, and you will be given the next available time slot. In the future, we will enforce the reservation system with our members, but limitations to our technical system do not allow us to do this at this time.

How do I check-in at the museum?

When you arrive at the Cayton, head to the front desk. One of our front desk attendants will check your ID (and membership card if you have it) and then give you a ticket to go inside!

We allow members to change the names on their membership account free of charge for 48 hours after their purchase. Please visit our front desk or email to make changes within 48 hours.

Are memberships tax deductible?

Because we are a non-profit organization, all Cayton memberships are tax deductible! You will receive an acknowledgment letter for your donation mailed to your address that you can use for tax purposes.

What are the advantages of purchasing a membership?

As a Cayton member, you get access to members-only hours featuring special programming, as well as special member events. You will also receive a member specific newsletter with updates about what is happening at the museum and discounts on camps, classes and gift shop purchases.

The higher level memberships also offer extra perks like guest passes, donor recognition, valet passes, a tour with our founder and CEO and more.

How long is the membership valid for?

Your membership is valid for one year from the date of purchase.

Do you offer members-only hours and events?

Yes, we do! We have regular members-only hours on Thursdays from 5pm-7pm. Please check the calendar to confirm the members-only hours for each month, as a special event could be happening during this time. During some of these hours, we will have special programming just for members.

how do i use my child’s birthday guest pass?

You are welcome to celebrate their birthday for the entire month! For instance, if your kid’s birthday is on March 12, come one time any date in March to redeem the birthday guest pass.

Does cayton membership auto-renew?

No, your membership will not auto-renew. When it is time to renew, we will contact you with an offer to continue your membership.

What is the Association of Children’s Museums?

The Cayton Children’s Museum is a member of ACM, the world’s foremost professional society supporting and advocating on behalf of children’s museums. If your membership has 3 people or more, you are eligible to receive the ACM reciprocal benefit of 50% off admission for up to 6 people at any of the 200 member museums in the ACM reciprocal network. Please visit the ACM website for more details and a list of participating museums.

How can I support the museum and programs for underserved youth?

The Cayton Children’s Museum is a non-profit organization. We need the support of our donors to build our art programs, access initiatives and staff. And you can be a donor! If you would like to support our subsidized museum programs for underserved youth you can purchase a membership in our Founding Members Circle. At both the Reflectors ($2000) and the Builders ($5000) levels, the donation for your membership goes to support our subsidized field trips, classes, camps and public programming for students at Title I schools. Take a look at the Generosity Garden in the lobby and Annual Donors Wall at the Grand Exit to see some of our major donor’s names! Please contact Chief Advancement Officer, Carly Harrill, at or (424) 416-8327 to learn more.

I have a question about membership. How do I get it answered?

For all membership questions please contact Membership & Development Coordinator, Genevieve Vacherot at or (424) 416-8384. She will return your email or call within one business day.
