Weekly Activities
September 4—8
John Pule - Create your own Family Tree based on the art of John Pule. Decorate your Family Tree with photos, drawings, and special items related to your family!
September 24—28
Mike Alfaro - Create a bingo card game with vibrant, imaginative designs inspired by the game Lotería.
September 11—15
Kerry Miller - Use tempura paint and cardstock pieces to create a beautiful fall bloom! Keep your fall flower or display it in our community bouquet.
September 18–22
Ana Serrano - Build a colorful cityscape out of recyclable materials! Use cardboard, craft rolls, pipe cleaners, popsicle sticks, and other tinker materials to create an eco-friendly Recycle City!

Every week is a new adventure at the Cayton. Kids learn new skills, create, and grow, all while immersed in play

11AM—Butterfly Wands
Decorate a beautiful butterfly with markers and sequins, the add it to a wand. Create a magical, sparkling wand to take home!
3PM—Bubble Dance Party
Pop in to jump and dance to fun music while surrounded by a sea of bubbles at this lively and fun dance party.

September 6
11AM—Tambourine Jam
Get ready to shake, rattle and sing! Explore the world of tambourines, bells, and shakers as you create rhythmic melodies.
3PM—Clay Play
Mold clay into unique plates and bowls! Afterward, decorate them as a special keepsake or a gift for your grown-up.
Wednesday
September 11
11AM—Inflated Fun
Team up, kids and grown-ups alike, for fantastic balloon juggling game. Keep those balloons dancing in the air as we pass them back and forth!
3PM—Mindful Movement
Use yoga dice and cards to get in touch with your body through poses, stretches, and breathing exercises. Find your zen in this relaxing and mindful session.

Pop in to jump and dance to fun music while surrounded by a sea of bubbles at this lively and fun dance party.
3PM—Cayton Olympics
Stick it like an Olympian! Participate in our Cayton Olympics, playing balance games inspired by the Olympic games.

September 19
11AM—Storytime+Art
Learn about the joys of gardening with us as we read "Our Community Garden" by Barbara Pollak. Afterward, craft a collaborative garden, brimming with colorful fruits, veggies, and blossoming flowers.
3PM—Community Restock
Help out our Cafe by organizing baskets full of groceries and restocking them in our market. Pitch in and support our community’s needs!

11AM—Build-a-Bridge
Ignite your inner engineer and work together as a team! Challenge your creativity and problem-solving skills by building a bridge from one desk to another.
3PM—Magnet Maddness
Decorate a magnet and add it to our community magnet wall or take it home to hang up items on the fridge.

11AM—Beat Builders
Let the rhythm take over! Explore instruments like sticks, drums, and rainbow bells while moving to the beat. Feel the music come alive!
3PM—Obstacle Adventure
Get ready for an adventure! Navigate balance beams, hop on 'stones,' and crawl through tunnels to reach the finish line. Are you up for the challenge?

11AM—Storytime+Art
Read “A Grandma’s Magic” by Charlotte Offsay and illustrated by Asa Gilland. Afterward, create an enchanting wand to tap into the magic of love!
3PM—Floor is Lava
Get ready to hop, skip and jump! We will spin a color wheel, and wherever it lands, hop into action and jump to the color. Be careful to land on the colors, because the floor is lava!

3PM—Reflect On Love
Decorate the halls of our “Reflect On” exhibit with drawings of your grandparents and other special loved ones in your life!

Read “Luna Loves Library Day” by Joseph Coelho. Afterward, decorate bookmarks for your next literary adventure.
3PM—Back-to-Scavenger Hunts
Celebrate back-to-school with this fun scavenger hunt around the museum. Search high and low for hidden school supplies in the Cayton!

Decorate a beautiful butterfly and turn it into a magnet! Add it to our wall and let it flutter with friends, or take it home as a fun keepsake.
3PM—Mural Moments
Work together to create a massive mural to be displayed in our Art Studio! Collaborate and contribute to a piece of art that represents our community.

Create puppets that remind you of different people in the community who help others. Bring these heroes to life with your creative puppet-making skills!
3PM—Natural Sensory Surprises
Explore nature sensory bins filled with soil, pinecones, leaves, buggy friends, moss, and more. Engage your senses with a variety of natural textures and elements.

Fall into fun and create autumn themed art! Craft beautiful fall leaves to add to our community tree!

11AM—Storytime+Art with the Tutu School of Santa Monica
Twirl into fun with the Tutu School of Santa Monica! Tutu Teacher Alyssa will join us to read a story, then lead a dance class.
3PM—Self Portrait Sillies
Kids and their grown-ups team up to create self-portraits of each other! Capture your favorite people in a collaborative art activity.

Experiment with salt and watercolor to create beautiful crystal hearts. Watch as the crystals form and add a touch of magic to your artwork!
3PM—Fall into Sensory Fun
Welcome Fall by exploring fun sensory bins filled with autumn items like pumpkins, corn, and leaves. Immerse yourself in the textures and colors of the season.

3PM—Lava Lamps
Put on your thinking caps to create your own lava lamp! Use a little science to make a take-home lava lamp.

Celebrate the heroes all around you! Create a portrait of people in the community who help you using collage materials.
3PM—Beaded Necklaces
Sit down, relax, and craft a beaded necklace that showcases your fashion sense. Design your own unique piece and wear it with pride!
