Host your next celebration at the Cayton Children’s Museum! Located right off the beach in vibrant Downtown Santa Monica, the Cayton offers 21,000 square feet of play space with 25 discovery-based exhibits, art studios, a state-of-the-art theatre, a gallery pop-up space and community space—all in the center of retail and hospitality at Santa Monica Place.
From birthday parties to baby showers to corporate events, the Cayton Children’s Museum offers a number of options to accommodate your needs. When you rent space at the Cayton, our event professionals will work with you to create a package that meets your needs. We work with a network of preferred event vendors, caterers, performers, artists, photographers and more, so you can focus on your celebration and on the one blowing out the candles!
We offer several private rooms for event rentals, as well as the entire museum for private buy-outs, up to 200 guests

Parking is available in Santa Monica’s public parking structures. The first 90 minutes of parking are complimentary. If you would like to host self-parking for your guests, we can arrange parking validation for you. Rates range from $3 to $25 depending on the length of the event.
Our team will work with you to create the perfect menu for your celebration. Catering packages can be customized for 15 to 200 people. Contact us to see our list of preferred vendors.

S. Mark Taper Foundation Brilliant Blue Room
The S. Mark Taper Brilliant Blue Room & Celebration Sphere seamlessly blend into the Cayton play space, combining creative aesthetic and functionality. These spaces can accommodate a wide range of one-of-a-kind events for you and your guests. These rooms can hold groups of up to 40 on their own, and can be rented together for larger parties.
The Derfner Theater
The Derfner Theater is our premier individual event space for larger groups of 80 or more guests, offering state-of-the-art media capacity and an adaptable environment for a wide range of events. This is the ideal space for more elaborate parties and celebrations.
Art Studio II transforms into one big, blank canvas for your littlest guests to express their inner artists! Babies and toddlers diaper up and crawl around in a free exploration of non-toxic paint and color while creating a beautiful mess from head to toe … and the best part is WE do all the cleanup! Private Art Crawl starts at $500.
Booking the entire Cayton Children’s Museum for your event guarantees an unforgettable experience for you and your guests. A private buy-out starts at $10,000 and gives you exclusive use of the entire space. Museum buy-outs are traditionally held after 3pm, but please contact us for special requests.
