Bridging the Play Divide
More than 1.7 million children in Los Angeles County have limited access to play.
Without access to safe playgrounds and public spaces dedicated to unstructured play, children in these underserved communitites are denied the physical, social, and emotional benefits that play offers.
At the Cayton Children's Museum, we call this the "Play Divide," and we work to help bridge it in multiple ways.
Every donation - big or small - helps us provide:
Field Trips for Title 1 schools throughout LA County
PLAY4ALL passes for families facing financial hardship
Sensory initiatives
for children with
disabilities

Promise Fund
Community
Our fearless Founder, Esther Netter, has dedicated 36 years to developing the vision and foundation for what is now the Cayton Children’s Museum.
Her dream began in a modest 600 square foot play space in the Westside Jewish Community Center in 1991, which grew into the beloved Zimmer Children’s Museum, a place where children flourished, and families connected for nearly two decades. Today, her dream has been fully realized with the Cayton in Santa Monica.
As a testament to Esther’s legacy, our Promise Fund campaign invites our community of supporters to celebrate the Cayton’s limitless potential to help honor Esther’s retirement.
